Frieren Let’s Go!!!

Roy Mathew

I’m so excited!!!

Lela

I know nothing about this anime at all but I'm tempted to watch simply because the title is a German word lol (could be a coincidence ofc) Edit: the map is full of German words so it must be on purpose haha

Taka Uchiha

Heiter said that he saw putting on a brave face when Frieren asked him if he feared death, which he is. That's why he wants more time. (For those who knows the full context don't spoil it in the comments!!!)

Lela

Flamme actually means flame :D if anyone is interested their names are: Himmel = Heaven/Sky (in German it's the same word) Eisen = Iron Heiter = cheerful or bright Frieren = to freeze or freezing (depending on the conjugation form) These are some super random names lol I'm guessing Frieren has some kind of ice magic

Alexandre

It's only speculation, but a possible reason of old age being much kinder to Heiter than Himmel might be because one of them is essentially a high level cleric. Theoretically, each time he got sick, he could, well, just cure it. I'm guessing that could help someone age much more gracefully. Anyway, great to see you react to Frieren, I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

the first 4 episodes came out all at once , suppose to watch them all uninterrupted like a movie. in order to establish the setting, so I get why you feel that way. But once you get to ep 4 everything will be in place !

Frieren is such a good show, i'm glad y'all are checking it out! The passage of time as you can see in the first episode is a really big theme in this series, which is interesting, because I don't really see it often explored this way in media.

I'm so happy you watch this show yey

Barry

I'm not totally sure if the Tolkien lore is absolutely accurate but the telling was very entertaining!

Barry

Its a beautiful show in every respect. But yes, very much a love letter to Germanic mythology and language.

Barry

After watching the entire episode. I had a feeling you guys would knock this out of the park and I was not disappointed, brilliant way to start the new year. Definitely doubling down on recommending Apothecary Diaries for the future!

Chels

The Japanese to English tells me it's "Free-ren" so if u wanna an easy route, thats a plausible pronunciation lol but this looks like it's going to be a cute D&D style slice of life anime

I wouldn't say the names are random. They all have a reason behind them. I would say Frieren is actually because of the melancholie to get left behind all alone, that can literally feel freezing. Himmel is.... himmlisch - a heavenlike hero, but especially - he is in heaven from almost the very beginning. Eisen is... well - hard as Iron, I mean, he can jump head forward and is totally unharmed.

I joined your patron right away when I saw you guys are reacting to thus show! I'm so happy!
