Sooo... I believe it was last episode where you suggested simply running away from Sloth as a viable option? And yeah, Mei Chan is actually pretty insane, it's just easy to forget due to being one of the youngest character in the show.

You know, a ton about this show revolves around the Ishval people who were nearly genocided… And then they hit you with "oh, and also there were the Xerxes people who were SUCCESSFULLY genocided, in one night, and now their souls are being used to power every bad guy". What a lovely image, ain't it. Next episode though, holy sh*t.

I love Kimblee's death. It couldn't be more meaningfully ironic. > Kimblee is a murder-loving psychopath. Al is the biggest pacifist who refuses to kill. > Kimblee continues to use his philosopher's stone indiscriminately, with zero regard for the humans sacrificed to make them, unlike Al, who had to be persuaded into using one for non-selfish reasons even. > Kimblee relishes in the memories of genociding Ishavalans, Dr. Marcoh has wanted to die from the regret of hurting them. > Dr. Marcoh is also likely to have created the very stones Kimblee's had, meaning he's the indirect cause of both Kimblee's power and Kimblee's death. > Even after all the talk needed to have Al use the stone to fight, the deciding move is NOT using it to fight with another explosion or transmutation attack, but to heal. > Heinkel was Kimblee's henchman, treated like a sub-human slave and eventually abandoned to die when he wasn't useful enough. Ed and Al, even when he's the enemy, treat him like a person, unlike even himself due to being turned into a chimera, which is what eventually leads to him switching sides and have Kimblee die to whom he disregarded as "lesser" and useless. > Pride having absorbed Gluttony's powers cause his sense of smell to be a big issue because he can locate them even in the smokescreen. Heinkel's chimera abilities include enhanced sense of smell which he used here to find Kimblee in the smokescreen. > Al wins with the help of a former enemy turned ally. Kimblee's supposed ally happily devours him instead of even attempting to help. > Despite being a psychopath who loves to kill, Kimblee wears white, carries himself in elegant clothing and cares about his appearance. He never sullies his hands in the literal sense, carrying his dirty work through other people or indirect alchemy-based attacks. Heinkel does the opposite and delivers a blow that arguably couldn't be more direct or more "messy", biting into his neck and causing his blood to spurt everywhere. Kimblee's pure white clothes end up blood-soaked.

The "cost" of using the philosopher's stone on their bodies is their morality. They view using lives to fix personal consequences from their mistakes as selfish so it would be immoral to use these people in that way.
