After having the homonculi pretty much having "humans suck so much" on loop, Pride basically saying "yeah, we know some of you are stupidly heroic, and we took that into account when making our plan" was a pretty unexpected swerve.

There are some very interesting human-homunculi relationships in this story. Wrath is a human TURNED homunculus, someone who has kept his consciousness from before the experiment, yet can't know if he's "running on" his own soul anymore or if it was suppressed. Pride is the only humunculus with a (human) mother which, while initially only part of the necessary façade, might actually cause some change in him albeit very slowly. Greed is a homunculus who has taken over a willing human and after the two discover they can wrestle over the control over their shared body as well as communicate internally, they can now form an unlikely duo. Envy is... very interesting, but this is a spoiler for now, but let's just say his skill of turning into all kinds of people has meaning beyond just making him a looming threat for the plot.
