tteokbokki is rice cakes in a spicy sauce! you can add cheese like they did or fish cakes are common too. I'd say rice cakes are basically chewy pasta made from rice flour? haha I personally love the texture :)

As an American, our general understanding of sushi is so skewed bc what we sell as “sushi” in America ISNT sushi 😂😂 it’s mostly just rice and seaweed. What we call sushi is closer to gimbap than sushi. Authentic sushi is literal just raw fish. I actually remember watching a video of Japanese people looking at American sushi and them all saying “why’s it all rice?” or “that’s not sushi” 🤣

difference between sushi and gimbap mainly is..the raw fish. and we dont dip gimbap in soysauce/wasabi.

Another big difference is how the rice is seasoned. Gimbap is seasoned with sesame oil, and sushi is seasoned with vinegar. Sushi doesn’t taste like sushi without the vinegar 😋

As a Mexican it was unreal see tae enjoying our culture and hearing him speak Spanish was a blessing, I’m rewatching this with you guys and seeing 2 different cultures reacting to mine is fun hehe

My pet peeve is that they already explained that Tteokbokki is made out of Rice cakes, 4 times and they still have no idea what it was in the 1 hour, 28 minute mark because all 3-4 times Wes coincidentally always talks and looks away the moment they explain stuff hahaha
