I have a theory Wes is so confused because maybe he watched the OG series and not BH and is now confusing them. I went through that at first when they started airing BH on tv.

I believe this episode was three things. 1) it was kinda used as a recap/fillerish episode. Lots of clips that we have already seen to meet the episode's run time. 2) It was an episode to help us, the audience, revisit and attempt to explain what we have learned so far in the series because a lot of information has been given to us. Finally #3, we get to look at Ed's Dad (H) in his internal struggles and mentality. We don't know what H and the man called Father have in common. H is still a great mystery, and we know that he has not aged for a long time. Even though it was a dream, we get some characterization from it. Whether it be his internal fears, morals, way of thinking, motivation, etc.
