I personally struggle simarlarily as Rudy. Not nearly as bad, but it's so hard for me to leave my room and talk to people. I'm too scared to get a job and I'm not doing well in school. It's just a dark period of my life that I'm working to get through baby steps at a time, so this episode is just so good and impactful to me. It's very realistic. Also the bubbles in endless darkness represent being so deep depression, it feels like you're under the ocean, slowly drowning. As for the cultural differences in how his parents are dealing with him, in Japan, therapy isn't normalized and Japanese parents tend to be very hands off because they raise their kids to grow up self sufficient from a young age which has its ups and downs. It makes them more capable and responsible, but it also means that they aren't always good at emotional support or making tough decisions for their kids. On the one hand, they want to help their son, but they don't know how. They hope if they leave him alone, they he'll come to see reason eventually because they don't want to make him more afraid by forcing him out, but they don't understand that sometimes that's what you need. Honestly what I need is to be encouraged to go out and to be gently guided. Have the emotional support outside but not the enabling, but my parents aren't capable of that, so I'm trying to find a good therapist that can help me that way, but they don't really have this in Japan. That's why their suicide rate is the highest in the world and there are hundreds of hikikomori (major shut-ins like Rudy) overall, I think that's why the man-God allowed Rudy to have not only a second chance, but to remember his past life; to allow him the opportunity to learn and grow. Because Rudy never stopped being a teen mentally in his previous life and that's why I think we shouldn't think of him as a 40 yr old man, but the kid that he is now

Oh shit your thoughts about dealing with your children trauma feels like uber-pressure. Changing school, home, diet, therapy, getting rid of door and windows. I feel like i would hate my parents for doing those things forcefully.

to start the black with bubbles is meant to represent drowning in depression. Second, you know a show is amazing when you start off hating a character and by the end your rooting for them. Most shows do wallow in their depressions but this one shows just enough to get its point across with how they sprinkle in the characters backstories that moments like the end here feel like the momentous changes they are. Not many shows could walk you through a characters past link it to the present like this one does let alone doing so while also updating you on the other characters in the story. Can't wait for season 2 next month and hope you guys will cover that as well.

I really like your discussions in this episode and I LOVE how you enjoyed the whole series. You really understand the characters in this show. I also just want to let you guys know that there's an OVA and it's canon because it will introduce an important character so it's not like the other OVAs from other series where sometimes they're not tied to the main story. I'm sad that you guys missed the end credits though but I hope you include your reactions to it when you upload your full Jobless Reincarnation reaction to your YT channel. Anyways, I can't wait for you guys to react to Season 2 that's coming out in the next two weeks and I hope you're still planning on watching the Konosuba Movie sometime in the future.
