everytime Steph was happy and Wes looked at the camera I died. S: Who wants to be sad Wes's face: Well shit S: I'm gonna cry (without a clue) Wes: nods aggressively S: This is the most wholesome episode ever Wes' face: ummmmmmmmm.........

Karin

I wanted to hug you both during this episode. It hurts a lot to watch that episode. I ve seen it already and it made me cry again. The author really knows how to portray human evil and greed in a way it hits hard.

When I first watched FMA, I was so disturbed by this episode that I didn't feel like continuing the series. It took me a good two or more weeks to watch it again. I was dreading re-watching this particular episode with you when I saw FMA on your lineup. This and another episode (much later in the series) are the most heartbreaking episodes/stories I've seen so far in my life, especially in anime. They haunt me even years later.

Yeah, you have to watch "Grave of the Fireflies" to get a harder hit out of anime. I don't recommend it.

"Most wholesome episode ever." Oooh boy.

"Fun" fact : on the side of every manga volume of this series, there are small sketches showing every character that died in said volume ascending to heaven. Every character, no matter what despicable actions they commit, is shown that way. Except Tucker, who's instead shown going straight to hell - and he'll stay the one and only exception.

This is perhaps the most brutal episode to watch. In the dub, it hits harder because I think the voices are creepier, plus you notice a lot faster who the animal is. The police were outside the house waiting while Ed went to report what happened. Nina was going to be taken away while Tucker was going to go to prison but the man with red eyes got there first and killed them both.

Also, in the original, the boys were here a lot longer. You got to connect with Tucker and Nina a lot more and didn't see the red flags immediately. I am not sure how it played in the manga, but in the original, Ed and Al were with Tucker and Nina for like three episodes, and it was tied to Ed's Alchemist exam, if I am not mistaken. Brotherhood was quick, which is a bit better, and it allowed Nina to rest peacefully, while in the original, she suffered longer by staying alive.

Oddly enough, this scene felt more tragic in the original anime. So so difficult, especially now, being a father of 3 girls. Everything would disappear before anything close to that would happen. Side note, Wes had me cracking up with the faces he was making as the episode was going along. He really held it together when Steph paused it to ask questions. Good on you sir!

FMAB is literally the only anime I always recommened to watch dubbed. It's probably the greatest dub in anime history (yes, ahead of Bebop even). Not only is the translation generally handled better and comes across more natural than the sub, which is quite clunky at times, but the voice acting is at least on par with the original VA cast. If you are not fluent in japanese, the dub is, for sure, the definitive version to experience FMAB.

I feel so bad for Steph she really didn’t expect this to happen. As well as Wes trying to hold his emotions in the whole time to not give away what happens. This really is one of the worst and best episodes of anime.

Hanan Haliru

Wesley's face everytime Steph says something nice about Tucker 😭😭😭

Gods this episode hurts, but silver lining for Steph is that they brush over this storyline with Brotherhood. In the OG series, they draw it out over a bunch of episodes and let you get to know and like Nina and Tucker before they do that. And then instead of leaving Nina, the government takes her to examine and she happens to be in a car that Scar attacks so he ends up saving her at first, but she cries to him that she's in a lot of pain so he kills her and it does not go as gently as in brotherhood. I bawled for hours and still cry everytime I see her chimera form because I think of the scene with Scar from the OG.

Nikki

Literally one of the saddest arcs(?) in an anime ever. Like I’ve seen more brutal I think in other animes but this scene hits so much harder for some reason. It’s so much worse in the og.

Chels

Definitely. I think it was the amount of time spent getting to know the characters and the brutal end that made the og so much worse 😭 I'll take the creepy Tucker and gentle death ver. Any day

Lela

Does Steph watch your videos again while editing or after the upload? Cause I want to know her reaction to Wes' face every time she said Tucker was nice or this episode is wholesome ahahaha
