Gojo wasn’t flying. He was standing on the air (we saw him doing it in his fight with Jogo). It’s all the same principle as his infinity. There’s always an infinite amount of space between one object and another. He just can manifest it. And notice also how he could see the cursed energy around Yugi and Todo from a long way away. His eyes see a lot all the time and it wears on him. It’s really interesting watching your reactions to Gojo. You almost seem to see him with the same POV as the curses! If you watch other reactors - ANY other reactors, you will see ecstatic reactions when Gojo appears. A combination of “Yes, we’re saved!” And “my god, he’s so hot” (men also acknowledge how pretty he is!) It’s not an accident - it was the intention of the mangaka that Gojo’s eyes be as beautiful as it was possible to make them, especially given their supernatural nature). I think Todo suspected Gojo would use purple, or at least that he might use some long distance tactic (he knows that he can), and the safest thing they could do would be to stand well back. Yep - the whole point of the exercise was to distract Gojo so he couldn’t interfere with the theft. It’s what keeps JJK villains interesting. Because Gojo is so incredibly powerful, they’ve got to be clever to win.

Yea he tends to overestimate his students or subordinates a lot, always thinking they're stronger than they are. Especially what he says in Shibuya but not gonna say the exact line just in case you haven't read it. Maybe the sheer gap between him and everybody else clouds his judgment sometimes when it comes to ranking people's own strength idk
