The fat lord character in this ep looks so cartoony I think because this was actually the very first chapter of the manga and the author hadn't fully committed to the art style.

by all means correct me if I'm wrong but to my knowledge The notion that Vikings were significantly taller than other Europeans of the same era actually a misconception. typically Vikings where around 5 foot 7 whereas the English were around 5 foot 6 and the French where around 5 foot 5 on average. there is obviously always a lot of variation in height for any given group but on average. there really wasn't as significant a size difference as is sometimes suggested.
