Hey all, I wanted to give you an update on what I’ve been up to recently. So as you may recall, recent posts talk about Plastic Spouse Interrogation being very very close to being finished and that is basically still true, however, I think for the sake of the game I am going to take just a little more time to rework the player controls.

Basically, the previous game was designed in a way that, when everything came together, I wasn’t really satisfied with how both how the player interacted with the game mechanically and how the player explored/discovered information in the game. Part of Plastic Spouse Interrogation is the experience of inhabiting a very strange body and using the little that you know about yourself and your surroundings to make the best of a situation where you have very little control and very little knowledge. In the original design of the game, the progression of the player from little control/little knowledge to a lot of control/a lot of knowledge was very quick and really depended on one or two lines of dialogue that gave the player a hint.

I think when I finally had everything together I realized that I actually could do a lot better, that the original design was lacking or that when I experienced the final product I knew that it could bee a lot more. So that’s basically what I’ve been up to recently, I’ve worked on graphics and mechanics for the game that I think provide a good deal more clarity but also generate interest/curiosity for the player to explore/learn/experiment.

I’m of course being a little vague about all of this because a lot of the game’s ideas are still in place just basically the way the player interacts with them has been reworked in a way I think is more clever/interesting/stimulating.

By the way, there are character portraits now!

In any case, the game is still very close to being done, as the majority of the assets/writing/sound is complete, I just have to rewrite some of the code to link up with the new system of player control. Sorry for the delay but I promise it will be worth it.

Yours In Gratitude And Games,

Yames

After the extra time GMG! spent in the oven, I am nothing but confident it will be worth it 😊

This is great. I had a distinct feeling with some of the olders games like "this could be a lot more". Great screenshots too, love the vague, almost nostalgic feeling look of the character portraits.
