I used to sort of wish that they had gone and had Atticus die from his wound, not because I would have liked it better, but to show up those people who didn't think HTLJ would go that dark. But screw that; it's better if Atticus lives. I never get tired of Herc and Salmoneus! I also like the assembly of mercenaries and all their interesting weapons, like the Genghis Khan guy with the sawtooth thing, and the guy with the bat axe that you seemed quite taken with. And the guy with the crossbow who gets built up as a lethal marksman who lives for the kill and brag of his prowess turning out to be not a very good shot is a funny joke. Bonus points because Sal references having been shot in the robe before (As Darkness Falls) and togas (Eye of the Beholder.) :)
