Considering "Romeo and Juliet" is required reading in high school, usually freshman year, I don't know why Chidi was surprised that Jason had read the play.

because he could have just have someone else read it and give him a short version? In high school I was asked to read a bunch of novels and books by latino authors, more Venezuelans than anything else, and I hated them so I always asked my grandpa to read them for me and write me a summary so I could study it for whatever tests were coming and it always worked x'D I dont regret dont reading dem novels. They always picked the most boring ones, tried to read one a few years back and couldnt even get halfway through. The authors had way better books and short stories and schools always pick the most annoying ones

Yeah, but your method is definitely in the minority. I agree with you on high school always assigning the boring books. Wasn't until college that they started handing out exciting stuff like "Hamlet", "The Odyssey", "The Divine Comedy", and "Paradise Lost."
