Vampires in Buffy/Angel are able to eat and drink human food with no ill effects, they usually just don't like to because their heightened taste buds make everything seem bland. I'll go ahead and spoil it for you by telling you that not every villain is a male stalker in this show. Joss Whedon complained often that, with only eight days to film each episode and the main character a vampire, they were forced to film during the day more often than they'd like. It's best to ignore it. Police are allowed to break and enter a building if they feel someone's life is in danger. I had more, but Patreon decided to delete my first comment.
