Buffy truly is one of the best shows of all time, along with Angel. I mean, at the time several good shows had their run, like the X-Files, The Sopranos started in 1999, The Shield a couple years later. Buffy was unique though, it originated the yearly Big Bad villain concept, semi-serialized story arcs throughout any one season, after which LOST heavily relied on ongoing serialization throughout its run. Buffy's writing style though was unique and often influenced dialogue of shows for teens and young adults at the time. The only thing that held Buffy back was the budget given by the WB network, and whatever corporate politics.
