The Angelus fakeout is golden. Gotta love David Boreanaz's acting in this even if it's horrible to realise he's pretending.

Maybe the Shaman can only take away the souls, but not restore them? Willow is able to restore the soul, but could she take it away if she tried? Or maybe Giles did the favor for him after Season 2, in between episodes? There are comics from Dark Horse from the time that have adventures between episodes. The group is lucky that the Mayor called upon this particular Shaman, and that the Shaman decided to help Giles because of the favor. That would mean the Shaman's territory is close to Sunnydale, and maybe Giles needed his services for something sometime we never saw.

That man makes one of my favorite... Villains??? Ever. He's not my favorite character, Angel, I love him but he's not my favorite. Angelous on the other hand... Wow hahaha and it's all the actor. Pretty sure if another actor would have played him differently I wouldn't feel the same
