So both Geralt and Yennefer had their stories start in the past. There are small hints throughout the first 4 episodes.

As much as I liked Henry Cavill as Superman, these roles seem to fit him so much more as an actor. The creature the assassin uses is called a krallach. Think half-dog, half-roach, but a lot bigger. Trying to escape from it reminded me of the story where two people are running from a bear. The first person says, "We can't outrun a bear." The second person then says, "I don't have to outrun the bear. I just have to outrun you." The Law of Surprise is kinda hard to explain although I think by the end of the episode you understand the gist of it. Basically, if someone saves a person's life, they can ask for payment in return involving something that one or both parties doesn't know exactly what it will be. Say, you save my life, and in return you ask me for the first gift I recieve on my birthday. Neither of us know what it will be, so it's a surprise. Bad analogy, I know, but I can't think of any other way to explain it. While I can't speak for Duny, hedgehogs do not have penile spines. Why do most of my comments turn into science lessons lol? The series follows the books way more than the games, so that might be why your friend didn't like the show. Season 2 is set to begin production anytime now so it should be released sometime next year.
