Ben was able to find out that the man that ran over Nadia was working for Widmore, then Sayid killed that guy. I think that Jacob stopped Sayid from getting run over too by that guy. Abaddon said that his job was to make sure people got where they are supposed to go, like the people on the freighter, Locke, Faraday. Maybe Widmore's people wanted to push Sayid to the Island, like they wanted to take Ben out of the Island.
