Oh and the journal of the Black Rock's first mate, found in Madagascar after the ship was lost in 1845. At the auction the guy says that the seller is Tovard Hanso and only he knows the contents of it, most likely the exact route the Black Rock was gonna take. Alvar Hanso was the Danish magnate CEO of the Hanso Foundation, the guy who funded the Dharma Initiative, like they said on the first hatch film. There's a lot of implied answers there, even if we don't know the why.

To add to what David said: such small intricate details are spread across the entirety of the 4th season and things are gonna move at almost lightning speed from now on. I understand that sometimes you wanna share your thoughts in the middle of the reaction, but it would be cool if you just paused the episode before you do, otherwise you will miss those details :P
