Finished this drawing of Niko for a tablet review of the ARTISUL A1201. I'm getting used to CSP (Clip studio paint) and I'm excited about using it for more comics and illustrations in the future. I'm aiming to finish another page from the one-shot, valentine's day drawing and the wip of Julian from the NSFW tier before the month ends.

I've included the review below and added a digital download of the illustration

Pros

1.)  Using the artisul application u can modify express keys to your need and comfort. Super Handy!

There are 8 Programmable Keys & 16 Multimedia Keys, so you have a lot to work with and I appreciate the various options available for these express keys as well.  For example, there is a launch program option. So, since I use CSP (clip studio paint) on my pc all I had to do was select the program using the browse button! Now I just need to press that express key to launch the program.

As for the Soft keys that are at the top of the tablet, I find them again to be cool. I’ve never encountered another art tablet that modulates the volume of my computer or the playtime of videos (ex. Forwarding videos) it’s a good feature if you like to watch videos while working or a fast way to access other files too.

2.) It has a large workspace!

This allows me to make large strokes when drawing with ease and comes in handy for line work or colouring since I like to work on generally big canvas sizes.

3.) Good pen pressure sensitivity

This one is super important to me and most artists since pressure sensitivity can determine the type of lines you make and affect your painting style. So, it’s important that the stylus and tablet do a good job translating this onto your canvas. The tablet had great pressure sensitivity and I was even able to do line art for this drawing here easily, smoothly, and proficiently.

Cons

1.) There were some incidents of lagging when using a very large brush.

There would be a slight delay from when I made the stroke and for the colour to show up on the screen. Again, I only ever experienced that when the brush size was very large! I tried unplugging the device and reconnecting it to combat that but still experienced the issue occasionally.

Overall, I’d say this is a good drawing tablet, especially for beginners. It’s not too pricey either and a good substitute for popular products if money impacts your decision-making when getting a tablet (its regularly priced at $69.99 USD so $94.80 Canadian but is currently on sale for $37.99 USD $51.47) It’s easy to adjust too and the pressure sensitivity and the express keys which I really enjoyed. I can see myself using this tablet for my own work on a regular basis.
