Dev Update - 2/27/23 (Patreon)

Hey friends, it's good to be back!

This'll be a brief update today. I only got back from my vacation yesterday, so I took a day to let my body readjust and recover from a 20+ hour journey, and multiple plane rides/time zone changes. But, today I eased back into rendering, knocking out twenty new images.

So far I'm making excellent progress on Gabby's scene at Barron Books, and I'm sure I'll have it finished by the end of the week, allowing me to get into Mason's scene. For now I'm just having fun with this Gabby scene, though. It's a big moment for her character, and letting her briefly bounce off of Mason's timid personality is a lot of fun.

But speaking of Mason, his upcoming scene is gonna be a big hill to climb, but once that's done, the end of the update will be in sight. Not near-sight, mind you. More like something you can see a few blocks down the road, but still -- it's coming! Current render count is somewhere around 710.

Also, a fun development I'm working on.. I'm talking to a musician friend of mine about developing a soundtrack for FiN. I've always waffled a bit on the issue of music in the game, because I didn't want to half-ass it with a bunch of tracks you've heard in a dozen other games. But, if I could get some original music for the game, with some real character to them? Well, that could be worth trying.

Finally, a word of thanks - I was a little nervous to tell everyone I was ditching the game for a week to go on vacation. You folks are supporting me, and I think it's fair to expect that I put in the work commensurate to that support. I really hate to disappoint you guys. But, this trip was important to me, so I had to go. And I always try to be honest with you folks, so I didn't want to hide the fact I was taking a short break. 

But, everyone was absolute gems about it, sending me kind words and wishing me a nice vacation, and it just reaffirmed why I love this community. So, thank you all for being so cool, and now I'm gonna get my ass back to work!
