Dev Update - 1/23/23 (Patreon)

Hey friends, hope everyone's doing well!

I've had a really productive couple of days. Renders for Chapter 4: Part 2 currently stand at 325, with another 40ish to go for Pepper's scene. Once that scene is completed, I'll be releasing a new demo version for $15+ supporters to try out, which will have 350+ images, and the first three scenes. The goal for today is to finish Pepper's scene, so I can get right into packaging up the demo.

Other fun stuff you may have missed if you're not on the FiN Discord: I finally decided to implement a much-requested feature, giving the characters little headshot images next to their dialogue.

For the moment, these will be static/unchanging images, but I'd like to do at least a few emotional variants for each character - neutral, happy, sad, and angry. I'm also looking at giving each character their own customized name text. But, one thing at a time.

I'm also using some of my downtime during renders to experiment with different music for the game. I don't want to get too complicated with it, but I think a few basic, looping tracks could be good. I personally never play VNs with the music/sound effects on, but again - lots of people have asked when I'll add music, and the answer is.. soon.

Besides that, I set up the scene/props/lights for the introduction of Wren, our new redhead with the funky-cool prosthetic leg. I'm trying her out with green eyes, but I think I'll go back to the brown I originally teased her with.. They seemed a bit warmer.

And work continues on the script, of course. Right now I've got quite a bit of script to render before I catch up to myself, but the sooner I wrap it up, the sooner I can get all the variables placed, and start refining everything.

That's it for today! Currently I'm hoping I can get this next update out in mid-late February, but we'll see how things go.
