The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.
The game has a fairly good HDR implementation by offering an actual Peak HDR Luminance slider but not in numerical values which can go up to 2.000 nits.
UPDATE:
With latest patch the game can now go up to 10.000 nits.
The provided in-game HDR slider will start at 25 nits all the way to the left and will increase by +25 nits for each click to the right.
If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to: +159 clicks (from leftmost, 0; which is around 4.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to: +31 clicks (from leftmost, 0; which is around 800 nits) or +39 clicks (for G2) or +59 clicks (for G3)
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to: +39 clicks (from leftmost, 0; which is around 1.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to one of those values and the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits":
BONUS:
- Disable Chromatic Aberration: to improve visual clarity;
- Set Vertical FOV to at least 59: which is equal to Horizontal FOV 90, for improved awareness in first and third person (without introducing the "Fish Eye" effect;
- Set the console to 4K/120hz and enable VRR: for the smoothest experience, especially on Xbox Series X thanks to AMD Freesync Premium LFC.
