Funny hearing you guys talk about businesses open on Christmas but not bringing up the biggest offender IMO... studios and movie theaters. Every year some huge film is given a Dec 25th release date (it was Ferrari this year). Is that just a tradition so many families have to go to the theater ON CHRISTMAS?! I have never done that and never known anyone that has, but it must be common. I feel so bad for the employee's who have to work.

Genuine answer to this: There are many families that do not want to be around or socialize with each other so they go to the movies together. It's an "activity" that takes up time and talking is not allowed.

The 12 days of christmas is due to the change from the julian calendar to the gregorian calendar, resulting in a 12 day discrepancy between every original date and the new date. Some people, seeing the made up birthday of Jesus as really important for some reason decided to wait until what would be Christmas on the old calendar (January 7th? I don’t want to math) to celebrate, and some just decided the whole span was holy and thus the 12 days of Christmas.
