Probably my third favorite Metallica album. Never really understood the band's propensity to go over 7 minutes, I feel like a lot of their songs are like a minute too long. My favorite Metallica tracks are usually the ones around 5-6 minutes rather than the 8 minute tracks typically found on Master of Puppets. I love long-form compositions too so its not like I dislike a track that goes long, in fact I tend to prefer them. I love extended bridges and solo sections, so I'm not sure where the disconnect is. It certainly isn't because they're a metal band, either, since I love that too. That said, still a beast of an album. It knows how to hit hard in a way that resonates with a much larger audience that most metal bands have never figured out. Battery, Damage Inc, and the title track are standouts to me, but I remember really loving Welcome Home when I was a teenager.

Hell yea dude. This album is great. I do like Ride the Lightning more though. Orion, Master of Puppets, Battery are my faves. I think Orion is one of their best songs tbh. Solid 4.5/5.
