Would really love to hear your opinion on Remain In Light when you eventually get to it, definitely the best Talking Heads album (and one of the best albums in general imo)

What are the odds, I literally listened to Kid A all the way through for the first time yesterday. As for Grateful Dead songs you've heard, I'd be truly surprised if you hadn't once heard Touch of Grey.

Love Talking Heads! Absolutely a top 5 band for me. This album, however, is not even in my top 5 of their albums. A tough one for your first real exposure to them, as the album is basically a sequel to their last, as the title implies (which I enjoy far more). I would love to see Stop Making Sense (directed by the late great Jonathan Demme) on Movie Club! That was my (and a lot of people's) first introduction to the band, which you might think wouldn't be a great place to start, but it got me hooked!!

Another in the long running secret-theme of Record Club of an album being far more country than expected. I tried to listen to Talking Heads' discography in one day back in 2019 and I only made it through 5/8 before getting bored but I remembered really loving this album! Maybe their 2nd or 3rd best. I didn't like it as much on my re-visit this week (which worried me a bit because 4 years isn't that long so idk why my taste changed so drastically) but after 4 or 5 full listens I began to appreciate it more. 💿💿💿.𝟓/𝟏𝟎. Next week is going to rule! It's nice to pull another huge name like Kid A-- but Dancing On My Own by Robyn!?!?!?!? 🔥💣🔥💣💖😻 got me crying in the fucking clubbbbbb let's gooooooooooo

Really enjoyed this Talking Heads album. Never really sat down and listened to them, enjoyed the punky sort of feel it had. I feel almost the same about The Grateful Dead song as you. I thought it was fine. But why is this my wife's favorite grateful Dead song? Just not my thing I guess. Excited for Kid A. Discovered that album in 2013, and I'm not kidding when I say I feel like it changed my life. Not in a major way. But musically it really affected me.

Kind of disappointed this didn't get a longer analysis, Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands. If anyone wants a collection of really great Talking Heads songs, check out the expanded version of Stop Making Sense, the soundtrack to their concert film. It contains banger after banger and has been in my regular rotation ever since I first heard it 22 years ago. The concert film is, by the way, a fucking masterpiece, please check it out.

Not my favorite Talking Heads album, still good though. I think Fear of Music and Remain In Light are must listens, utter classics, Great video though man, this is a cool series

Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands from the 80s and this is definitely a solid record from them. Those grooves are just undeniable like wow. Pleasantly surprised that this made the list. 4/5 for me and yeah, that Grateful Dead song was the most forgettable song I’ve ever heard.

I always thought you would enjoy Talking Heads. I'm glad to see you enjoyed the album. They've got a pretty solid discography if you ever want to get into them more. Definitely interested to see what you think of Kid A

Also, I get what you're saying about the beginning of I'm Not In Love and One Thing Leads to Another by The Fixx. They definitely have some similarities.

The Grateful Dead are really a bootleg or concert band. Their live shows blow all of their studio work out of the water. The concert album Sunshine Daydream is a great representation of their sound. I would check that out if you really wanna know what's up with this band.

Oh my god! Kid A. I have been waiting for this one in particular. I love it. I get that there are a lot of connotations with Radiohead fans of them being snobbish or blind worshipers of anything they do but I would totally ignore all that when listening to the music. I would say many songs take a few listens to start to get the structure and enjoy them more.
