Welcome Emma!!! I really tried to set aside all preconceived notions for this one but I just was not in the right mindset for singer-songwriter-country-pop. This is super petty, but the way Taylor Swift pronounces trouble and never/ever really distracted me. She adds a few vowels or syllables or something so it sounds like ‘troubbool’ and ‘nevoor??’ Maybe this is a singing technique I am unfamiliar with. I listened to both the original release and Taylor’s version and found a few tracks to enjoy, though. I didn’t think the re-recorded version was very different, aside from her voice sounding more mature and confident. Also, I did create a Music League for anyone to join in. There’s an app and a website, if you get in and search ‘Unofficial Mega64 Record Club League’ it should pop up. I want to give anyone here the chance to sign up first and later it’ll go on the Mega64 subreddit.

Emma did great! Awesome episode. I am not a tswifter either so this wasn’t really my thing but 22 does go hard and it was also fun to talk to my wife about this because she’s a swift nut too. But yeah it was pretty meh for me overall, 2/5 for me. What really surprised me was how good Stayin Alive actually is. It’s a song we’ve all heard a billion times but actively listening to it was like a different experience. That beat is so insane and the song definitely deserves to be a top 100 song of all time imo. So stoked for single digits next week. This will be the first album on this show that I am already familiar with prior to it being assigned.

You can get the Long Pong Studio Sessions record off of the Discogs marketplace (basically a wiki-esque website that inventories every record, CD, cassette tape, etc ever pressed). The prices are still similar to what you would have paid in a store on Record Store Day, so it hasn't been significantly scalped.

First album I didn't listen to. Just couldn't bring myself to do it. If it was half the length, or even just 40 minutes, maybe I could have justified it to myself. But I just couldn't do it this week

But I wanna add that seeing you be a dad is always great so it's a fair trade

This was so good. The dynamic you two have is so great. The "DUDE" and look Emma gave you was priceless.

Emma did a great job! It's interesting that "Taylor's Version" is what Shawn and Emma are referring to most of the time (and I'm sure it sounds basically the same) but I felt it necessary to listen to the original, just because *that* is what's on the Rolling Stone list. Not a Swiftie, regardless, but this took me back to 2012 for sure!

Love that Shawn is getting his family as guests for albums they love. Hope there's more of that in the future or just more guest episodes in general. (not that the solo ones are bad.)

Shawn I love these episodes with your family and I also really think you should invite Rocco's dad for one of these ;)
