The 10th episode of Shawn's Record Club show is out!  Shawn is jumping to a random album in the "500 Greatest Albums Of All Time" book that Rolling Stone put together. I swear this is random and the fact that we are still in the 300's is insane. Today we are listening to The Raincoats by The Raincoats one of Kurt Cobain's favorite bands!

I’m with you 100% on this one. I usually like music that sounds like shit but for whatever reason this was too sloppy for me. 1.5 vinyl pieces and fav track was Lola. Next week we’re getting out of the 300s, I can feel it!

This is probably my first 5 pieces of vinyl rating throughout the whole series, really love this record. Lola is such a banger

Great album, totally my style. I get its not for everyone though. I never realized they formed because of The Slits, but that makes perfect sense.

Honestly I think this record was my least favorite so far. The singing is...frankly really bad? Maybe it's just too experimental for me.

I'd say this is a grower but I don't think I listened to any song more than once in a single sitting. They were a tiny bit exhausting to listen to at the beginning, to be honest. and this record checks a lot of my boxes, but I still had to spend a lot of time with it before it started to click. Life on the Line was the best, for me. and the Portuguese girl singer was my favourite out of three(?) I love that she only tried to rhyme like every 4th line lol. That ruled. 💿💿.𝟓/𝟓

Shania Twain is "that singer my mom liked" personified. I similarly haven't heard any of her since I was a kid. Gonna try to keep an open mind!

Shawn is sick of saying how inspirational a record has been, but it's most effective for me here. I hear so much of what I grew up listening to in the 90s on this record, in a primordial-type stage. Loved this one.

This one was rough. I didn't like anything I heard on this one. It's a zero for me. That said, Shania Twain, 'Man! I feel like a woman'... gonna be a good week.

I’ve got both the International and Original editions of the album ready for listening 👍👍 Extra credit: all three versions of Up!

You're not wrong, this album fucking SUCKS.
