I'm also a huge sucker for female vocalists 😄 Whenever Exene wasn't singing I wasn't really interested. I'd give it 2.5 pieces of vinyl, boosted a bit because of the influence. I adore hardcore punk, post-punk, pop punk, electropunk etc. etc. but for whatever reason the origins of punk like X, Ramones, Sex Pistols, I've never been super into.

This album and Wild Gift are definitely X's best work. I think I'd give 4/5 or maybe even 5/5 but that's as a big punk listener. I have an original pressing (a piece of vinyl) which sounds amazing and you can get for like 40-50 bucks.

Definitely got exposed to X on Tony hawks underground 2!

This one was decent but not my favorite. I love punk but I like when it sounds more like shit lol. I also don’t love the rockabilly sound too much so that also might have turned me off a little from it. Still happy to check it out though. 2.5/5 and Sex and Dying in High Society was my favorite track. And yeah California Love is good

Listening along, love this show guys.

Mega64 reviewing X?! Never thought I’d see the day :’)

Los Angeles is a great album, amazing even! As far as West Coast punk, I would say that Descendents are the group that kind of built the sound of the region. Their pop-punk was the blueprint that bands like NOFX and Green Day riffed on.

Oh, and I feel like such a dork, but the reason I found out about X was because they released a few of their tracks on Rock Band, with Los Angeles and another song, I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts, being my two favorite.
