It's Oscar season, so we might as well start diving into the good stuff now and see some long, quiet movies about music composers. None of us had seen (or knew anything about) Tar (2022), but it's got some awards season buzz, so we figured it was time to give it a watch. Who will enjoy it? Who won't? And who's cancelled?

Next week's movie is GROUNDHOG DAY.

Another movie that does the "character hidden somewhere in the shot" thing really well is Lake Mungo

I think Rocco is spot on with the ending. People that powerful often don't truly get completely canceled and although this was a big fall for this character, she still has a job and is still revered somewhat. I also don't think the movie is dunking on video games, just the character's perception of them. She's doing what she said other hacks would do.

Funniest movie of 2022

It's also extra depressing for her character because at the start of the movie, she mentions how she controls time when she's up on the podium. Videogame concerts have footage that the music needs to sync up to, so at the end, even though she's conducting, she's being shackled with the inability to "control time."

I never thought about it that way. Thanks for making one of my favorite films of the year even better!
