Welcome back Bryan! I always like to hear his perspective :) It’s interesting to me, to think about how in less than a decade we went from Kurtis Blow’s “The Breaks” to harder stuff like N.W.A. and Public Enemy. Obviously there’s some checkpoints in between - Run D.M.C. for example - but things definitely evolved in the 80s! (and the Native Tongues stuff coming up around the same time as a counterpoint, of course!) It was a rough week and this album’s energy was what I needed. Gangsta Gangsta and Express Yourself were my favorites (aside from the BIG big tracks). GG reminded me of “Waterslide” by Janelle Monae, something about the rhythm and flow, IDK. If anyone wants to hear a much less famous but decent cover of Suspicious Minds, I’d recommend Fine Young Cannibals’ cover from the 80s. That singer has such a strange and appealing voice, IMO! I have been WAITING for T. Rex to pop up, I’m glad we’re finally getting a taste this week!

I feel like the music tracks could stand to be half as loud as they currently are. I have a hard time hearing the discussion while the music is playing. It's cool hearing it in the background for context, but the conversation is why I tune in.
