I'm with you Shawn on the noisier stuff; I will never go out of my way to listen to that part of the CAN catalogue. I found them while listening to Primus, Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant which sort of bridged the gap. No one album did it for me but I'd always find something special when sifting through their work. Beside David Bowie they've also had an influence on bands like Portishead, Stereolab and Radiohead (covered their song Thief). CAN broadened the scope of what rock music can be and for that they've earned their status I think. Maybe top 500 bands would have been more apt for them.

I love Future Days but I rarely go back to ege bamyasi. It's usually just Future Days and Flow Motion for me.
