Octav1us and I went for a little trip to the Retro Computer Museum in Leicester yesterday, and found MANY WONDERS of tantalising necessity.

It's not a big place, but the amount of trust and openness confided onto visitors is incredible. They have SO many things packed into this space, all of which you can pick up, inspect, drool over, play, that it's quite mind blowing.

I haven't decided whether to do a dedicated video on it yet, but if it's something you'd like to see, DO let me know.

What I went *mainly* to see were the four Virtuality machines, owned by a chap called Simon. His knowledge of these machines was both astonishing and fascinating. One of the machines was out of action on the day, but given there were three remaining, it was hardly a negative. Re-living the "wonder" of 90s VR was stimulating to say the least, and oddly felt more immersive than it did in the 90s; although the comfort of the massive headsets felt far more painful than it ever did (probably due to using them for so long).

The upshot is I'm going to start working on a video covering the history, games, hyperbole and experience of Virtuality. If there's anything specific you want to see in that video, drop a comment below.

I'm sure if you've been you're more than familiar, but for those who haven't, here are some photos of the visit.

Hit me if you have any questions or requests around it!

I want to know how the pterodactyl became such a cliche of 90’s VR. And i’m Not just joking to be nostalgic. What was the moment that initially propelled pterodactyls into the VR zeitgeist. I remember it first in the virtuality games themselves, but based on all the references and parodies I feel like it must have been something more notable since, at least in the states, virtuality machines/locations were pretty scarce.

I spoke to Andy when I was up there and he casually mentioned that the A1200 CD-ROM prototype accounts for a quarter of their insurance for the museum! 😄
