This is a question I've wanted to know the answer to for as long as I can remember it, yet I've never really realised it.

Well, the other day I did. So I grabbed some magnets, some floppies and went to town with some thoroughly unprofessional and amateur experiments.

I hope you enjoy!

Magnets vs. Floppy Disks | Nostalgia Nerd

For as long as I can remember, I've known never to mix floppy disks with magnets. It's common sense isn't it? But what I'd really like to know, is how susceptible the data on disks really are to magnetic forces. I mean, I've left disks on top of my monitor plenty of times in the past. I've left them next to speakers. Surely, they can't be that volatile... can they? ** For exclusive videos, mystery boxes and other rewards, please consider supporting me at; https://www.patreon.com/nostalgianerd?ty=h ** ☟Sharing☟ If you wish to share this video in forums, social media, on your website, *please do so*! Ah magnets and magnetic media, you know you shouldn't but you just cant help yourself! Like touching that plate you'd been warned was hot, licking a sharp knife or typing Google into Google!

This was gold. I'd love to see a follow-up on it as well specifically regarding speakers and anything else that is commonly found on a desk. It's always puzzling to me why floppies tend to be so finicky. I got a bit too excited when I saw this video come up. :)
