Based on recent analysis, these are the companies that are most commonly used for phishing attacks:

Microsoft (no surprise), DHL, LinkedIn, Amazon, Google, Paypal, and Yahoo. Of course, there are others as well. While we in the security community may no better than to click on links, sharing this information with friends and family can be beneficial for their own security online.

Almost half of all phishing attacks designed to steal login credentials like email addresses and passwords by imitating well-known brands are impersonating Microsoft. Cybersecurity researchers at Check Point analysed phishing emails sent over the last three months and found that 43% of all phishing attempts mimicking brands were attempting to pass themselves off as messages from Microsoft.

I do believe the author meant to say that "we in the security community may *know* better."
