This is an interesting read. Google has a new VPN for Google One subscribers. It's going through a third party audit and they're releasing the code. They say it won't log any online activity as well. Would you use a google VPN?

Browsing from the coffee shop? You might want to try Google's new VPN service | ZDNet

Keen coffee drinkers with terrible cybersecurity habits could be about to get an answer to privacy problems they didn't know they had. Targeting anyone who is inclined to connect to unsecured Wi-Fi networks in cafes and other public venues, naively entering credit-card details and other personal data, Google is now releasing a new Virtual Private Network (VPN) directly embedded in Google One services.

After all the issues with NordVPN and PIA, trusted I a third party VPN provider isn't great. Setup a VPS to VPN to with your own configuration. That's if you do not need the ananimity of location. Or the ability to hop around the globe.

A Google run vpn does pose some privacy concerns, though as like many people I already have a VPN provider that I've signed up for 2 years. I can't see myself using it but it is cool that its part of Google One.

Anyone who uses Google Fi already has a built in VPN service on their phone, so this is likely an extension of that.

No, I would not.

I live in the Google ecosystem. Google Home/Family/Stadia/etc and already subscribe to the storage plan level for the VPN. For me, it's a no brainer for myself and the whole family to use. They have the reach and resources to provide better bandwidth than most. Curious if you'll be able to pick a region, but I seriously doubt it.
