Black cats get a bad rep. They're tough to take photos of, and in the days of Instagram, people don't adopt black cats because they're thought to be unlucky AND non-photogenic.  I disagree on both parts. You can get a lovely picture of a black cat, and they're VERY LUCKY!

I am bummed to hear that people think this. We have a mostly black cat with just a little white on the chest. We love him so much and he takes killer photos! For sure people should adopt black cats!

The only problem I had with my black darling was she like to rub my leg at night as I walked and I some hit her as I walked.

I foster cats for my sisters rescue organisation. I agree, only 1 in 4 foster cats I get are white or ginger, the other 3/4 cats are black. Black cats are amazing though. My cat loves being the foster parent.

My wife and I went to the local animal shelter (no-kill it was) and asked for the cat that was there the longest. It was a black cat who had been there for two years. She was temperamental for a few years but eventually warmed up to us. She ended up going blind but had great spacial awareness. She did not live a full life but in the end she became very affectionate and trusting. Nurturing is always key.

That's amazing, Joe. You're a good person with a big heart!! And I know you gave that cat a happy life.
