Five years ago today, I clicked “Publish” on @lorepodcast, a project that would become the biggest Hail Mary of my life. It was my final attempt to turn a hobby (writing supernatural thrillers) into something that could help support my family when I needed it the most.

In the five years since, that project has been downloaded a quarter of a billion times, become a book series (three!), a television show (two seasons!), multiple live tours, a comic book series, more podcasts (three!), a podcast production company, and so much more.

And along the way, that career has blessed me with the chance to work with some amazing people. My talented research team, my amazing publisher, my tv producers, and—of course—my best bud Chad Lawson, whose music I listen to every day while I write.

Not a day goes by without feeling an immense sense of gratitude. I took a long shot, and as a result I invented a brand new career for myself, built something that millions of people love, and began a journey that altered my life forever.

I’ve learned a lot along the way, but the most important is this: if you give up, your dream will never happen. All you can do is keep trying, keep running around that park with your kite on a string. You can’t control the wind, but you can control how ready for it you are.

So thanks for being a part of this journey. Your kind words, support, and attentive listening all mean the world to me. And of course, five years is just the beginning, so here’s to many more years of Lore!

I love your show so much! I use them in my classroom, and the students totally enjoy them. You make them interesting by the way you use your voice and music - not overpowering and allows the listener to create their own images as you speak! Happy anniversary, Aaron, and the rest of the LORE crew. It would be great if you could offer lesson plans on your podcasts or get a teacher to help out. This would allow your podcast to reach new ears!

Happy 7 years! I’ve been listening for years and have loved every single podcast and show. Really. Thank you for taking that leap of faith. Many of us are forever grateful you did.
