Progress Report (Patreon)

Apologies, I forgot to write a report last week.

But, as they like to say, better late than never— a fact that Alessa would not agree to, so I'm lucky she's fictional, and I need not suffer her disapproval.

I'm very relieved to have finished the code for Chapter Two — even if I've already been made aware of some small errors and bugs. I'll fix them once I'm done with the first draft! As well as the typos and grammatical errors. Right now, I'm sorry, but I can't look at the code anymore. 😭 I just need a break from it, darlings.

The first draft is going well!!!! When I tell you this is a chapter I've been DREAMING about for so long, I hope you believe me because it's the God-honest truth. Chapter Five is the big one. The one I've been talking about forever, but chapter 3 is close in excitement.

It starts off right after chapter two, and the beginning can be mellow, but I'm really trying to write a sense of... mounting pressure? A bit of unease because you all know what's about to come. Hopefully, that pressure builds until the action in the second half of the chapter. So far, I think I've managed to convey the right mood — I like to use the plip-plop of leaking water as a sort of clock that never stops ticking.

A reminder that your time here is numbered, and you need to be ready for the ball.

It is growing more than I first anticipated but, then again, it always does. At this point, I anticipate the unforeseen. I knew this chapter would be big — mostly because of all the different variations — so I'm ready, truly, for the work.

I'll also be doing things a bit differently for chapter 3. Instead of releasing the complete chapter at once (or close to it), I'll divide it into 4 parts and release them as I finish them. But I'll discuss this better once I'm done with the complete first draft.

For now, I want to announce here that Lieutenant Vallen is a new possible RO. Her role for 3/4th of the book will remain exactly the same, but at the crucial point of her arc, right there at the apex...

I see now another outcome for my sun-touched guard.

I'm really excited to begin her romance and friendship routes. But, as I said, everything in the near future will remain the same. Vallen is playing her part, and you'll have to join in her dance as an equal or lose her respect forever more.

That's it! I couldn't write today, unfortunately, nor will I write tomorrow. I'm attending a family matter, but by Wednesday, I'll have my beloved pen and notebook back in hand.
