July is coming to an end, and in the blink of an eye, so does the week approach its twilight.

The sun still shines but doesn't burn as much, and I've been able to find some peace even during the sluggish afternoon hours. And thus, the writing has been great!! I almost —almost! managed to reach the last scene of Chapter One! 🥳 I didn't quite manage to reach it since, of course, Billy had to come and complicate what was supposed to be simple, but alas, it's always a pleasure to write the old horse.

You'll have to rely on him for a while longer until you'll have to make a decision that, for some of you, may be an easy one while, for others, should be a bit harder.

In any case, that's in the future (I've been thinking too much about the future), so I should focus on the now. The now is that I didn't manage to reach the point I wanted, which is slightly disappointing because The Rose, much to my pity, will have to go on the back burner for a little bit.

I'm going on vacation! I'll be traveling to the mountains in Switzerland to visit my brother and his girlfriend from the 24th to the 7th of August. After that, I'll have family come stay with me until the 25th of August, so I'll be taking a break from writing for a month.

I'll still probably write in the meantime, whenever I have the time and the mood strikes, but I won't force or punish myself if I don't. This will be my last break until late December, so I'm really excited to take a breath, recharge, and then, hopefully, come back twice as strong.

To be quite honest, I'm still processing the first book's publication and everything that came with it — the reviews, criticisms, and my fair share of regrets. So, I want to clear my head and focus 100% on the real world for a little while before I slip back into the one that lives inside my brain.

This means that, for the next few weeks, this will be the last Progress Report post — but I do have content scheduled! I quite like how the hugging snippets came out. 💖

After that? I want to finish Chapter One in the last week of August and finish the first draft of the second chapter before the 15th of October. I made a timetable for Book Two that I'll try my hardest to make into reality.

Let's meet in a moon cycle's time, under the roof of the quiet, unnamed inn that sits isolated in the middle of the road. Until then, please take care. If, like me, you have a break from work or school, seize the free time as much as you can. Time, I've come to realize, is precious.

We always do wish we could have more. 🌹
