Friday is upon us.

This week went by in a rush! Sometimes time moves like a snail, unhurried, for she knows that the destination awaits, and what matters is the journey. While other times, it seems it flies like a sparrow with her little heart hammering when it sees an eagle soaring in the sky above.

For time has been running out on me. The week has been busy, although Book One took most of my attention. There was an issue with the art assets— wrong sizes. It was an easy fix, but since I couldn't do it and depended on another, it was fairly stressful. I really should learn some basic Photoshop skills, but I am so unbelievably bad at anything remotely artistic that, just thinking about it makes me anxious.

In any case, it is done. I also tested the game HG sent me— with the copyedited files— again and again, and again. I actually found the tiniest bit of an error. It's not even an error, just one sentence that I didn't put a second *line_break, so instead of breaking the paragraph properly, the sentences are closer together.

  • Kinda like this, you see?
  • Not visually appealing, but no error either.

I am debating whether that's enough to send Jason new files or if I should wait for when the game is published because I know people will probably send some error reports or others, and I'll have to make a patch fixing them. I'll fix that pesky sentence then. But part of me... wants to send it back.😄

Anyway, other than that, I saw nothing else. All the code is working as intended, your choices aren't forgotten or discarded, and, most importantly, no game-breaking errors.

Oh! I also caught an instant where Alessa spoke with, uh... whatcha call it in English? Doing this: I'm; instead of this: I am. She used an abbreviation, which is something she never does. Again, it's such a minor thing that I'm unsure if it warrants annoying Jason. But... We'll see.

As for what I've written since last we met... I will admit, it wasn't much. Unfortunately, this week wasn't a productive one for Book 2. I will be completely transparent and say that my mind has been focused elsewhere— Book One's impending publication. I am so, so nervous and excited, and I just keep thinking about it and making plans for it and just today, when I sat down for a good writing session, I ended up writing the release post instead 😭.

I've been distracted, and I hate it, but I can't quite control it. What I can control, however, is how I respond to it, and I have to do better than I've been doing.

This doesn't mean I didn't write anything! I did squeeze a couple of thousand words in the Word document, if you can believe me. I have a list of all the variations and different paths I need to write so that I can finally finish scene two.

Pardon my awful handwriting. It's always bad, but this is the "I'm not even trying" version I use when I write notes for myself. Next time, I should consider that I may want to display it on Patreon xD

Anyway, these are all the points. The *goto_Chill is already done, and the goal for next week is to finish all the others.

In other unrelated news, I've made some changes on Patreon! You may have noticed the change in the tier names— I think these reflect the Rose much better. I also made some minor changes to the benefits of each tier. Patreon is still very new to me, and I'm learning what works best and what doesn't. What fits my schedule, and what exactly is most fair to you guys. The rewards aren't set in stone yet— for example, I may add access to the Alpha for the Silver tier as well - but I think this works better now.

Of course, some rewards aren't applicable yet. I haven't posted any mature stories so far, nor do I have an Alpha or a demo for you either. I'm thinking of releasing the first Alpha (either with just the prologue or the prologue and chapter one, depending on how fast I can work!) after the game is published.

The first public demo will consist of the prologue, chapters one and two. It'll be polished too; since I'll be sending the files to a small team of testers first (including whatever feedback I get from the Alpha post here!)

So the Alpha version is rougher and prone to have some errors and bugs. But, after chapter 4 (which will be as far as the public demo will go), I will continue to update the Alpha chapter by chapter.

This is all, of course, in the future. I'm just trying to paint a somewhat clear picture of what these new rewards mean. If you have any feedback, any concerns, any suggestion, anything really please don't hesitate to contact me. Either comment here or send me a DM, whatever works best.

And... I think that's it! I'm sorry for the extremely long post, but I had a lot of information I wanted to share. I'm getting really excited about the Rose's future, and I may be dreaming ahead, but I've been thinking of the moment I submit Book 2 to Hosted Games! 😄 I went through the outline once again - to add a few ideas I've had since - and got so hyped about some scenes! Ahh, I wish I could snap my fingers and have it written, but then, it wouldn't feel half as good would it?

I suppose the work is part of the journey, otherwise, it'd feel empty, I think, standing on top of that mountain. The view is spectacular, but if your muscles aren't aching... can you truly appreciate the breathtaking beauty of a vast, blue sky?

Have a great weekend ahead. I promise that next week, Book 2 won't be neglected anymore. 🌹
