Hello everyone! Here you can see two covers I made for two different fics from my favorites writers Khirsah and Ardatli, two of the biggest of the fandom. I was thinking that it would be nice to talk a little bit about how I made this covers. The first one “Wayfaring Stranger” is from Cowboy AU. In this one the Kaplan family goes on vacations. So I imagined the dirt road, the mountains and a beautiful sunset. Then I searched for some references and I found three different pictures, one of mountains in the sunset, another with trees and another one with a dirt road. I made a little montage, used a “cutout” filter and then I modified it to make it look more pictorial. The second one is the cover of “The Colors Beneath His Skin” from the Tattoo Shop AU. It is the one in which everything happens on a tattoos and piercings studio. I took this pic http://www.blogto.com/listings/services/upload/2011/05/20110508-speak_easy_tattoo01.jpg (chosen by the writer because it is just the way she imagined the place in her fic). I decided to draw a nice perspective so I searched for a brick wall texture that are used in 3D models, also i looked for a good typography adequate for the title. When I started working on this I decided to make it more colorful so I thought it would be nice to have some sunset lights and shadows, with a shadow of a near building dividing the colors (I think now is more than clear that I love sunsets... XD) and then I started to draw the image first transforming all the references and texts into a correct perspective, for example, the billboard with the name of the store at the beginning was plain and I changed it to make it look more like if it was a box and the same with the door. Then I played with shadows and lights using overlay and color adjustments. I choose this typography based on references from books related to tattoos. Well, that’s all. I hope you didn’t get too bored with this :P The picture references are attached to this post in a file. See you next time!
