With Pokémon Sun & Moon coming this week, sometimes we forget that not everyone can get the game on Day 1. While we can’t give everyone a copy, a member of our Slack Community, Stephen T, has stepped up to provide a free copy of Pokémon Sun to someone on launch day. 🙌🏻

This is a hard contest to pitch and to write for, but it really comes down to generosity. Stephen offered to giveaway a copy of Pokémon Sun for those who might be financially unable to pick it up on Day 1. If you already are planning on getting your copy on Friday, I encourage you NOT to enter this contest. We have no way to prove who can or cannot afford a copy this week. That being said, we trust and know that you’ll do the right thing to make sure someone who couldn’t afford to pick up a copy this week has a chance too.

To enter, comment why you love Pokémon and how it has affected your life. We’ll pick a winner on Friday morning and provide you with a digital code for the eShop.

🏆 Big shout out to Stephen T for doing this.

I'm almost embarrassed to write this letter, however I've decided to step out in faith. I hope that I will be greatly considered in your selection of a Pokemon Sun winner. Most people criticize adults who play video games and tend to label them as deadbeats, losers, or slackers. Most are not ever willing to look deeper at the one that they judge. I am a 30 year old adult male who works part time making donuts at a local bakery (which is when I listen to the podcast.) I have attempted numerous times to pursue my education so that I can become a counselor or at least find stable employment. However, "the underneath" of my story is that I am a full-time caregiver for my chronically ill mother and younger sister. I am their sole family. They truly have no other support battling the controversial diagnosis of Lyme Disease. The disease affects everything physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This is how I learned the true definition of faith, which again is why I'm reaching out. Pokemon is more than a video game to me. I can remember when my mom bought me my first pack of Pokemon cards. It didn't stop there. I also remember her driving me thirty minutes away twice a week to play cards at a nearby comic shop called, Dizzy Dugout. Those were great memories of me and mom bonding. Times when her memory was soaring. I get teary eyed writing this because today because she doesn't remember those times today or even what a Pokemon is. From ages 8-14, six years I was invested in Pokemon. Then, life happens and my Pokemon were placed on a shelf. It wasn't until 3 years ago, aside from the occasional anime movie or bout on pokemonshowdown, that I reconnected and realized, Pokemon brought comfort into my soul. It was then that I moved back home so that I could help the family. My mom had another child 21 years to the day of my birth. My little sister and I created our own bond playing through Pokemon X and Y. I found this helped ease her anxiety as well as mine, after so many other changes in both our lives. I wish I could run out and afford to buy the game, but that is just not an option. We are all on a tight budget. I only work part-time during the third shift so that I can still assist my family and my mom is on disability. Most of our money is spent on necessities, such as rent, food, water, and gas. I thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have always been into Pokemon for as long as I can remember. My first game was yellow and I remember being so mad that Gary would steal my Pokemon so I kept resetting over and over hoping that he wouldn't take it.. lol and then the other learning curve was when The kid from my daycare taught me how to save or trying to beat Brock with pikachus quick attack because I never knew how to REALLY play Pokemon with a full team until D/P. It has always brought me together with my friends and been a great escape. I was in foster care when B/W came out in Japan and this show is what ended up getting me through my 4 hour high school bus rides.. not to get sappy but it's just that Pokemon has always been a crutch. I'll be picking up a copy of sun tonight but this code would be for My little brother. We have always bonded over Pokemon and I can't afford to get him the games but this would allow us to pick out starters together! Anyway, thanks Stephen for this opportunity! It will surely bless whoever gets it! And thanks Steve for the show!
