The idea for this picture came after seeing “Kick-Ass 2”.  It was a bit of a  disappointment overall but then again the movie was made quite a few  years after the first one and well, you can’t stop a kid from growing  up, which Hit-Girl certainly did.  But in the course of the movie she  was living with a rather clean-cut sort of foster parent who had a  “swear jar”.  Essentially, each time she swore she would have to put  money into it.  Seeing that just made me think and say, “Are you fuckin’ kidding me?”  It’s always been a theory of mine that if a  movie’s sequel is rated lower than it’s predecessor then it won’t be as  good.  Such as if the first movie was rated R and the sequel was  PG-13….it’s not going to have the things that made the first movie so  great.  Basically, it’s like the studio censors just had a field day on  the script and the movie.

All ranting aside, after seeing the  movie the idea for this picture popped into my head.  However, due to a  lot of unforeseen circumstances, the idea was on the shelf for a long  time, at least until I was able to get CallMePo to do a sketch of it.   But I wanted to get it as an ink drawing so I could add colors.  Again,  money was an issue, so time passed and finally I managed to get money  together for it.  And so, the idea came to life.

The  next hurdle of it was to add color to it.  I knew that was going to be  the big hurdle because of all the finer details in the picture, namely  the boots so that part was left for last.  The other aspect that I  experimented with in this picture were the highlights in the suit as  well as the mask.  Its something that I hadn’t done before simply laying  down color and doing a lot of smudging and using the highlight tool.

After  doing the boots, I knew what I wanted for the background; I wanted  there to be a lot of splatter like what was done in the original posters  for the Kick-Ass movie.  Each character had splatters of color  representative of their character.  Kick-Ass got green.  Red Mist got  red.  And Hit-girl got purple.

Hope all of you like the work that was put into this.

Thanks. Still wish I had more money at the time so I could have done it quicker so the joke would have been fresher.
