CallMePo - Green Lantern Ryuko (Patreon)

 Recently, @callmepo  had opened up his commission list and I so wanted to have him do  something that had been at the back of my mind for a loooong time.  It’s  been there ever since I had finished watching the last episode of “Kill  La Kill”.  Given the setup and story of the anime I started to wonder  what it would be like if Ryuko Matoi were a Green Lantern.  At first I  had done a single chapter as a fan fiction but then I shoved it aside  and forgot about it.  But then I started sketching out a design for  Ryuko’s Green Lantern uniform. 
 

If you read the comics, a lot  of the time you get Lanterns who do a traditional type of uniform but  there are those that change theirs to suit their tastes in style.  An  example of this is Kyle Rayner in the late 90s and onward.  The  inspiration for Ryuko’s came to me when I looked at her original  Senketsu outfit and I used the basic shape to make that as an outline. 
 

When  it was being done, I had shown CallMePo the sketches I had done of  Ryuko and he really took to it.  In fact the construct of the Scissor  Blade was all his idea and I think its a marvelous one at that. 
As  for the background I knew that I had to do a space background.  And  thanks to a lot of youtube tutorials out there I managed it  but….initially I wanted to make it accurate to what space is actually  like and keep space without stars.  But when I did it was completely  boring and so I buckled and threw in stars anyway. 
 

Another  aspect that I kept fighting over was Ryuko’s hair.  For those of you who  haven’t seen the series, whenever she transforms, she gets these red  hair highlights.  But being she’s a green lantern I had the notion of  making those highlights green.  When I did it, I was fighting between  using red or green.  So I ran it by my girlfriend who voted red.  So I  stuck with that.  :-)
 

But now that this is done, I wish I had  the animation skills, and equipment, to redo her transformation sequence  but as a Green Lantern.  Even have it end on a scene where she’s  striking a pose and those big-ass “Kill La Kill” style letters come up  saying something like, “RING SYNCHRONIZATION!  GREEN LANTERN!”
