Hey hey Patrons!

We're back with the BLOOD SOAKED FINALE of our Beloved Blue Eye Samurai!

Some great set pieces and moments!

RIP Seki, we knew it was coming but it was a lovely arc to a great character!

AND FUCKING, OF COURSE, SHE DOESN'T KILL ABIJAH! You're thinking ZIG AND THIS SHOW ZAGS! Roadtrip pals! Whooo..... *lightly starts to cry.

Akemi chooses Power and we're a lil' afraid for her future! Is this a villian origin or Girl Boss Momenet?

Thank you all so much for hanging with us through this dope journey!

So how are Mizu and Abijah gonna get along as road buddies? And where else in the world are we gonna go?

So they wrote it so Mizu is responsible for the Great Fire of 1657 in Japan, which pretty much completely burned down Tokyo and killed anywhere between 30,000 and 100,000 people. A clear metaphor for how her desire for revenge is all consuming and the consequences do not stop at her. So yeah, they're definitely going the "revenge corrupts and is never worth it" route with her rather than just letting her be a Tarantino main character, which I honestly love. We've already seen plenty of shows with satisfying revenge, and oftentimes the non-hero protagonist roles in popular media don't get to be women, so I'm all for it. Akemi and Ringo are clearly the heroes of this story, if there needs to be a hero.

This was a fun finale! But as you mentioned there were plenty leaps in logic in this (the lookout has ONE job!) Historically speaking that fire killed thousands of people so i wonder if Mizu will have any redemption by the end of the series. The most interesting of Fowler's revelations to me is that Mizu "mother" actually "her maid"? Does that indicate her real mother was someone of status? Was she in league with the Whites? 🤔

Random thought, but if the woman we saw raise her isn't her biological mother... then could her mother be the white parent with a Japanese father?

That show was kinda perfect, even the cliffhanger. I can't wait to see the art direction for Mizu and Fowler in London. It will be such a contrast from the pastoral beauty of feudal Japan to the early industrial European aesthetic of smoke stacks and rampant poverty. I really dig that Mizu stayed true to her obsession even though it will likely be the end of her. As a mixed dude, I loved that line from Fowler "That's your white half showing.". That is so cold, and something I have jokingly said before because I got that evil colonizer blood in me, one half of me oppressing the other. Don't need external racism when you have it inside of you. Emile is funny as hell and insightful. happy to see that dude in any reaction y'all put up.
