Hey hey Patrons!

We're back and meeting a BUNCH OF NEW CHARACTERS including this stitched-up freak we got here in episode 9!

We also meet the thin-lipped and super-professional Nanami who takes Yuji to check out one of the more chilling sequences where these kids, are killed.

And then there's poor poor Junpei. We're a little leary of him and first but he ends up being a cornerstone of one of the most heart-wrenching story elements this show has ever delved into!

Also, getting big DARK YUJI vibes from Junpei, and WE'RE NOT CHILL WITH IT!

Mahito is my favourite villain to hate on. He's absolutely despicable and I love it.

The person that voices Nanami also does Kishibe in ChainsawMan

It's a quick moment, but when Mahito is touching Junpei's hair you can see scars on his forehead. The bullies put out lit cigarettes with Junpei's forehead. They were really torturing the kid. Junpei's story is so tragic and was a real gut-punch that really showcased that this show was going to hold no punches.

Nanami is great! One of my favorite characters in JJK (Fun tidbit, Gojo is a year older than Nanami 😂) Good discussion after! Keep some of those concepts in mind going forward, so far you’ve just dipped your toes in the JJK pool, when shit goes down, shit really goes down

Finally there's an adult in a Shonen manga who takes responsibility and does NOT expect a high school kid to save the world. And here we are at the JJK aspect that commenters hinted at previously when Morgan touched upon it. Techniques can become stronger if you explain how they work. A contract between you and your opponent gives them an edge by explaining how you fight, and your power becomes more effective. A famous trope becomes a power in the hands of a writer that loves the genre

I absolutely love how they turn the "explaining your moves to your opponent (aka the audience)" cliche into an actual function of the power system in this show lol
