At least Misa gets sprung from jail and is safe for now, but we don't know how long that could possibly last!

As for the show explaining things we already know here, I think the easiest answer is they want to make sure the dumbest audience members are all on the same page for the climax. This show has lots of rules and plans that dumb dumbs and even smart people can either miss or just outright forget after a few episodes, it happens. You guys had an example of that this episode, you asked how/if Mikami knew light was Kira, and assumed he just knew who light was, but in a previous episode he specifically told Mikami over the phone he doesn’t need to know who he is. The real answer was when Mikami looked into the room he saw that lights lifespan was hidden, which has been said and shown multiple times to be how someone with the eyes can tell if someone else owns a notebook

This is the answer, but also, even with the information given in 36, some people are still confused about what happened. And you are right about the rest. I think some of the criticisms they alluded to in their post-episode discussion this round are just a result of them forgetting previous aspects of the story. I can't blame them considering how much they watch every week.
