Sup Jerks!

Hope everyone is doing well this week! And you can definitely bet you're doing better than Korra is in this episode!

Our gal is on some HARD TIMES and you know its about to be a dark episode when you echo one of the most legendary episodes of ATLA and title this one KORRA ALONE!

We basically get a rundown of how we came to find Korra in the Earth Kingdom fight club and it's FUCKING SAD y'all!

And HOLY SHIT we got everyone's favorite Metal-bending, visually-challenged piss-pot is BACK and she's a grumpy SWAMP Goblin!

Thanks so much to all who've been with us as we are on our last leg of Original ATLA content! It's kinda emotional realizing we are nearing the end of this thing but we're eternally grateful to all of you for hanging with us!

xoxo,

SEAN WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR SHIRT

Man the part where shadowrealm korra cracks her Chain chip before dragging korra into the poison pool is so cash. The animation is so crisp.

I had to look it up, turns out Hama was played by Trees MacNeille. Mum from Futurama and a whole bunch of other stuff. Old Toph is played by Philece Sampler. If you ever watched Digimon she played Mimi in almost every English dub even the Tri movies from a few years ago. She's a veteran voice actor who sadly passed away last year of a heart attack, was only 67.

William Timmins

I legit tear up every single time I see the swamp witch. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Toph once asked Aang, "Do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?" and Aang said, "I don't see why not." Toph's first greeting to Korra was, "Nice to see you again, Twinkletoes." INSTANT CRYING.

They physically manifested her PTSD: that's so fucking cool! but for me this is when i stopped giving her shit because the depression and PTSD and all of that just sucks so how could i continue to rag on her? also for some reason you guys sound a bit muffled? maybe its just me also yes the creators were greenlit for 2 seasons in S3?(someone can explain this better) that explains why S3 and 4 flow so well

It's not the same voice actress as Hama, but she did also voice 2 other random old women in this episode. Phelice Sampler. She was easily the best representation of one of the old Gaang, perfect speaking pattern for Toph. She passed away about a year ago.

She didn't deserve shit in season 3 either honestly. Her change really started in Book 3, before the heavier trauma. She was more thoughtful, and honestly just more likeable 😅

rickie woodson

time for korra? time to eat!

Brimmy

@Lorenzo Baxter oh of course! I loved season 3 because it focused so much less on Korra and instead focused on everything else happening (i mean how to fight someone with nothing to lose AND can fucking fly who then poisons u and attempts to suffocate u)

Brimmy

@GodKingSosa it helps that i'm older now and understand things better +/- have seen dozens of reactors react to this show XD

Is AOT coming out today??

Cory Stanish

Yo Legend of Vox Machina is honestly right up your alley; I think you guys will totally dig its humor!

Lorenzo Baxter

To be fair to Korra, she didn't always try to fight it. She tried not talking to it until she got fed up so she's not the EXACT same 😅 It's not really a spiritual thing I don't think. It's more like others have said, but her trauma physically manifesting itself. It really showed that when the pool of poison showed up beneath it in the swamp. That very moment of being put in a near death, monstrous state, really is what has been haunting her. I think this is more than a worthy successor to Zuko Alone. Some tones I even find better, simply with her dealing with her trauma. My god is it sad, but brilliant. Also, while Korra is buff, you can also notice present Korras arms are smaller than Evil Korra. It's a cool detail that in her 3 years of inactivity, her muscles started to atrophy. She's not a noodle, but she's not nearly as toned as she has been. Super cool that they put that in the animation.

What Korra is going through is relatable at this time. Was in a serious car crash 6/20, and even though I walked away from it, there’s definite healing, both mentally and physically. For example, the first 2 times I test drove potential replacement vehicles, I could smell oil burning. No one else could smell it. It took me a few days, but I realized it was just my brain reliving the crash when behind the wheel. I was the only occupant in the vehicle when it happened. There are other things going on, but that’s get the point across decently enough. Restless for the next episode. 🖤
