Sup Jerks!

We're back with some more Korra and this is one of the most brutal and emotionally taxing episodes yet!

We got a lot of really amazing moments and beats as we come to the close of this season!

Do we need to have Mako and Bolin play some old-school Star Fox so they can get a handle on flying these huge zeppelins!

We get Tonraq, Zuko and Iro back in the mix and that's always exciting!

And HOLY FUCK is the escape from the Air Nomad Temple and the ensuing sequences one of the most brutal unforgiving sequences in the franchise!

Tenzin's "I could do this all day" moment leaves us with a lump in our throat!

We got more stuff dropping throughout the weekend!

The Boys will drop on Monday, as Sean will be out of town, but we'll be getting caught up AND we'll drop a Shitty Movie Night on Saturday AND a new possibly stranger reactions will be dropping as well!

xoxo,

It wasn't tagged correctly, so you have to type "S3E10" into the search bar with filters off for it to show up

He is the goddamn son of goddamn Aang. Kya and Bumi were awesome too. Anybody else would have gotten their asses kicked by them.

Well, the female equivalent to Lord would be Lady. So technically I guess you could say "Fire Lady" but somehow that just sounds weird and less regal. Guess in this world Lord is possibly a genderless term.

I would take an Iroh Wisdom Teapot™ over a magic wish djinn any day!

This is my favorite episode in this book.

I like Morgan's "Guys can we try democratic socialism before we move into the whole murder and revolution thing?" lmao

Man, between the last episode and the next two, I always forget how strong this episode is, too. This stretch really is one of the high points in the entire Avatar-verse IMHO.

Lorenzo Baxter

Yeah the show definitely needed more episodes. I think maybe the fiasco of getting dicked around by Nickelodeon involved this limited number of episodes. It really sucks how some parent corporation can cut people off at the knees who are genuinely good at writing and creating brilliant fucking stories. But luckily they still delivered while being crippled. Brain and Michael are fantastic 👌

Not Amused

Nickelodeon really gave the show hell throughout its entire run. They never gave the creators the green light for more than one season at a time so they kept thinking they had to really bring things to a grand end each time, which greatly affected the continuity of the entire show. That’s why there was never truly an overarching plot. I think they is well though.

Lorenzo Baxter

Well seasons 3 and 4 were luckily given together, which is why they are much more cohesive than the rest of the seasons.

I love the Tenzin vs Zaheer fight. You can see in the animation that Zaheer was on his back foot the whole time. He was running, while Tenzin was chasing. And in the way Zaheer was moving, it wasn't proper airbending. He was forcefully pushing himself upwards while Tenzin was gracefully moving in circular motions, like airbending is meant to be. Zaheer is very skilled at fighting, but he just doesn't have enough training with real airbending forms to keep up with a guy who's been practicing for 40+ years, not mention he was trained by the fucking Avatar. It's like a skilled amateur trying to fight Bruce Lee. Doesnt stand a chance. Loved to see Zaheer struggle, cause he literally hasn't lost a single fight this entire season. Tenzin would've washed his ass if he didn't get ganged up on.

A gifted amateur faces a true master

Zaheer did say last episode that the white lotus became nothing more than glorified bodyguards who served corrupt nations

I'm just gonna put it out there. To a lot of people the 'beginnings' double episode in season 2 is the highlight of the season. I feel it is the worst thing tlok did. It fucked up the whole eastern philosophy of the avatar universe by introducing rava and vatu. Up until this points spirits weren't good or evil, they were just beings. The whole good vs evil is such a western simplistic view of the world. I think it would have been much better if rava wasn't the spirit of good, but was the spirit of order. And the same for vatu, chaos instead of evil. And then the avatar's job was keeping the balance between them. Too much order is just as bad as too much chaos. Like in a yin yang way

There are fanarts of old Zuko and Iroh reuniting! It’s spoiler free! https://www.deviantart.com/tamberella/art/Zuko-finds-Iroh-1-855724156 https://www.deviantart.com/tamberella/art/Zuko-finds-Iroh-2-855814772

Just gonna be honest, being dicked around by the studio is not a good excuse for sloppy fanfic-tier writing. There have been many other shows (kids shows and otherwise) that were treated just as poorly by the studios producing them, but still managed to deliver something interesting without feeling the need to wrap everything up in a nice little bow. For example, the creators of Young Justice (another cult classic kids show with adult themes and story lines) knew towards the end of their S2 run that they wouldn't get renewed, but instead of phoning it in by trying to rush to a ridiculous LOK S2 Dark Avatar style climax, they stayed the course and delivered with a strong cliff-hanger ending that basically guaranteed the show to be revived in the future. Same thing basically happened with Twin Peak's S2 as well.

You know... you're right. I think the reason a lot of people adore Beginnings was everything ELSE. It's so cool, visually and conceptually, and seeing the spirit world is so fun. And, personally, so many large scale elements of the story were just garbage at this point that I was more thrilled to see this Avatar fairy tale than anything else.

Are you guys posting attack on titan today ?

But Raava and Vaatu weren't the spirits of goodness and evil? The show made a point to say that the dark spirits weren't evil, though the line was delivered by one of the season's villains. But I don't recall any character after that point referring to any dark spirit, including Vaatu, as evil. His whole plan was to throw the world into chaos, and Raava made the point that light and dark have to coexist, that they can't destroy each other. Vaatu is described as the spirit of darkness and chaos, and Raava is the spirit of light and peace, not goodness.
