We're back in action for the exclusive Batman vs Everyone podcast available only to you!

BvE is our monthly show where we pick the theme and you lovely patrons pick a new cartoon to go against a Watchers in the Bar fave: Batman the Animated Series!

Ohh, Steven Universe is my favorite cartoon this side of the Last Airbender! I love seeing people discover just how deep it gets. In a show that has a TON of amazing episodes, Michelle honestly picked the best two episodes to show, kudos! I'm glad to hear you guys pick up on all the subtext that goes on in this show. What I think is impressive is that the show's themes are built into the worldbuilding, cleverly disguised in its kid's show setting. There is cool sci-fi high concept stuff that tickles the brain but as you saw it's frequently metaphors for something emotionally deep, and/or progressive. The show got into some hot water because the subtext became subject matter later on, when it features an on-screen gay wedding during plot-important episodes that I imagine were a nightmare to censor in "those" countries lol Pearl is my favorite character because of the stuff on display in this episode that is neatly tucked between kid show stuff :D Only you guys would meet Lion and instantly start planning how you can hide bodies in there XD Steven Universe is definitely one you guys should check out, if not on the channel then on your own time. It's a real treat with some genuinely great characters, plot reveals, jams, etc. BvE was a lot of fun!! This was the first episode I checked out. Thanks guys!
